I purchased this diary as a gift for a friend who put her 14 year old dog down recently and is devastated. The guided questions are thoughtful and meaningful, it will help her put the memories together which will be hard, but I think will serve as a great help in working through her heartbreak and will come to treasure it as time passes. It is too easy to forget over time, or hard to remember due to the pain, so having it all written down is important. I like how it focusses on the pet and their life, rather than their grief, but in the end will I feel have the same healing result. Everything else seems to focus on the person not the pet so I really like this format.

I’m working my way through this journal in the wake of my dog’s death. It’s a cathartic way to remember and also preserve her memories, even down to what our daily habits were. There are many things I would have never thought of thanks to the guide and how it steps through all the different stages we went through together. Very well thought out, clearly written by pet lovers. I could do with a larger size but I still thinks it is very good.

This is one of several pet loss journals I’ve purchased. This is by far my favorite I wished I used it for my other cat. It does need to be more than 56 pages though for people like me that love to articulate, but it did focus on exactly what the title is, writing about the life i shared with her. I didn’t need the writing prompts but they are very well thought out and follow a good pattern of life stages. It will help those hurting and experiencing some brain fog or find it difficult to write. It focuses in on the good memories but does still have a section to work though difficult times which is important. There are plenty of spots for photos throughout each section. Ironically although its all about my cats story, just focussing on her seemed to help me with my grief more than looking inward. Please add more pages for the future.
